Essential
Elements of Stav Warriorship Training from Kolbjorn
Märtens
Awareness Training – takes the
form of daily, seated practice. The practitioner begins
with emphasis on Focus on a fixed object, visualization.
After becoming proficient with focus on an object or
image, the practice shifts to unfixed focus training,
and finally transcends focus to sitting in a wider state
of awareness, beyond the confines of the mind.
Breathing – Breathing practice
is essential in STAV. Rune breathing practice develops
a deep connection to the body, the practitioner’s
energy and awareness, and to the nature.
Physical
– physical training is performed with weapons
and develops focus, connection to ones own body and
to the opponent. Repetition of physical training eventually
results spontaneous response in real situations. We
do not train to learn techniques that should be applied
in a given situation. Rather, we train to embody principles
so that spontaneous and natural response can occur in
the moment without hesitation and involvement of the
mind.
Conduct –
- I accept total responsibility for my
life – past, present, and future with no exceptions.
- I totally accept the ways, beliefs,
and expressions of others without compromise unless
others attempt to exert their own will over my life
force.
- I inhabit my own life completely, not
desiring the life of anyone else.
